Lemon Grass Tea is also beneficial for acne.  It is high in vitamin A; a great liver detox, and helpful with tissue regeneration.

I drink 2 tablespoons of Chlorophyll a day in pomegranate juice.  I also make this drink and consume it sometime during the day: 3tsp of Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar squeeze of lemon, and one packet of stevia in water.

If you wear makeup wash your makeup brushes weekly with a gentle soap.  I also clean mine everyday with an antibacterial spray.

Makeup brands that I love, and do not break me out: Eminence, Josie Maran, Tarte, and Bare Essentials.

Make sure your washing your face for at least a minute with a good face cloth using vigorous circular motions, then rise thoroughly.  I sell a great microdermabrasion washcloth that you can use am/pm with your face wash.  It really helps to exfoliate the skin without adding extra chemicals.

Organic Acne Peel

Published on May 15, 2012 by in Acne, Skin Care

With spring in full bloom and summer approaching our skin can tend to have more oil as well as more breakouts due to the heat and humidity.

What is one to do?  I personally love the Radish Seed Refining Peel from Eminence Organic Skin Care’s Biodynamic line.  This organic  peel calms redness, improves skin tone and helps prevent breakouts.  This is truly a must have to keep skin clear and balanced during the spring and summer months.

My New HG Primer!

I was at Sephora in Valley Fair last week searching the isles for all the new green cosmetics that launched this spring.  I love makeup, but my dilemma is always my oily acne prone skin.

I buy all this amazing makeup only to have it running down my face like an oil spill by lunch time, or break me out.  Well last week this all changed!  I met the amazing Dalina (who works a Sephora, and is a magician with makeup), she turned me on to Hourglass cosmetics–specifically their veil  mineral  primer.  I cannot rave enough about this primer–it truly is amaziness in a jar!

The first day I wore it I put it to the ultimate test.  Could this primer keep me matte free after hours of steam being blasted in my face all day(occupational hazard of an esthetician)?  Yes! My face was mattified heaven even after 10 hours at work!  I love this stuff!!! :)  It’s a little pricey ($55), but completely worth it!

PS Madonna’s makeup artiest (Gina Brook) uses this on her to keep her makeup flawless on stage.  Watch the YouTube Clip: Gina Brook

Going Green

Published on April 30, 2012 by in Uncategorized

Spirituality and Health Magazine make an excellent point in their May/June issue. While we eat, drink and even feed our pets organic ingredients, we often overlook our largest organ and “carelessly coat ourselves with chemicals”. Heed their organic wake-up call and start paying attention to labels and what goes into the products you use every day. Naturally, they recommend our Herbal Recovery Oil and Cornflower Recovery Serum from our Beyond Organic Collection, which are the only Demeter certified products in the world. Find out for yourself what biodynamic ingredients can do for your skin.

Natural Ways To Calm a Breakout

Published on April 5, 2012 by in Acne

Here is a great article that was posted on New Beauty Blog about natural remedies that work better than Benzoyl Peroxide :)

Thyme Treats Acne Better Than Medication, Study Finds

Posted Tuesday, April 03, 2012 by Shellie Terry Benson, Editor

Your first reaction to a brand new, big ol’ pimple on your face may be to slather it with a medicated cream. But a new study says you’d be better off running to your kitchen pantry and rubbing some herbs on it.

By soaking thyme, myrrh and marigold in alcohol to extract the herb’s active compounds, the researchers from Leeds Metropolitan University, found the tinctures of the herbs actually worked better at killing acne-related bacteria than benzoyl peroxide, the ingredient found in many acne medication creams.

All of the herbs helped to kill the bacteria, but the best results came from thyme, which beat out the rest of the herbs and benzoyl peroxide. The researchers indicated that a natural treatment may be more effective, and a good alternative to those who suffer from irritation when using benzoyl peroxide. The results of the study were presented at the Society for General Microbiology’s Spring Conference in Dublin.

Are you open to trying a more natural form of acne control?

Having a Breakout Before a Big Event???

Are you having a major breakout before a big event?  Here are some quick ideas to get your skin glowing fast–I won’t say it’s easy! :)

For 3 days drink nothing but super green smoothies–as many as you can stand! :)  I recommend this super green smoothie: 1 apple, 1/2 lemon, 2 cups of spinach, 2 cups of berries, 1 cup of aloe vera juice, 1 cup of acai juice, some raw ginger, 1/2 cucumber, and some parsley.

If you don’t have time to make a super green smoothie the next best thing is Green Machine, by Naked.

At the end of each day give yourself an enema (Fleet Brand) or go to a colon hydrotherapists.

On the last day go see your esthetician for a organic peel and some lymphatic drainage.  I love Eminence Organic Skin Care, Blueberry Detox Peel at the end of this cleanse, which is in our Organic Power Peel Treatment.  Trust me, if you follow this protocol you can clam your angry skin by your big event!

If you are having caffeine withdraws drink some green tea.  Also, try to consume at least 50 fl oz of water during the cleanse and take a high quality probiotic.  I take Eminence Clear Skin Vitamins and MAg o7 together before I go to bed at night.

Here’s to happy cleansing! :)

My Quest for Makeup and Ance Free Skin

My skin was pretty flawless for about 9 months, then recently I started breaking out again on my cheek area.  I’m not quite sure if it’s from the colon hydrotherapy I stared.  I can imagine that it releases some toxins into my blood stream, which then purges and forms lovely zits!

Being traumatized by anything emerging on my face, I quickly go into panic mode.  I have gone from eating 50% raw diet to about 70% raw diet, and I have up my Milk Thistle and Omega intake.

Also, my latest breakout has left me with a few scars. :(    My goal is to regain my dewy completion back, so by summer I don’t have to wear foundation.  Let’s hope for the best.  If you suffer from occasional breakouts after your acne has mostly cleared try maintaining a raw diet for awhile and let me know how it goes.  Here to (let’s cross our fingers) a foundation free Summer! :)

PS I have been Dermarollering (.25mm needle) with my Eminence Bamboo Firming Fluid and it really seems to be helping my scars heal fast. :)

Some Quick Lunch Ideas for Acne Skins

My Mantra is: “Acne is an Inflammatory Disease”

To fully clear your system of acne it is imperative that you change your diet.  I know first hand how busy life gets and how difficult it can be to maintain a clean diet.  So here are some quick easy suggestions.

Here’s what I packed for myself today.

Two super red smoothies: kale, spinach, apple, banana, pear, lemon, acai juice, noni juice, aloe juice, blueberries, super red mix (Trader Joe’s), super green mix (Trader Joe’s), and organic hemp powder.

3 oranges

1 quart of carrot juice

2 salmon sandwiches: gluten free bread (Whole Foods), salmon, mayo, 1/2 cup chia seeds–mix all together!

2 quarts of magnetized  water :)

The Benefits of Clean Eating

Great article posted on New Beauty Bolg:

Naturally Improve Your Complexion in Just 6 Weeks

Posted Tuesday, March 13, 2012 by Shellie Terry Benson, Editor

What if there was a simple way to dramatically improve the tone of your skin without expensive products or time-consuming procedures? Turns out there might be, and you’ve had access to it all along. Researchers at University of St. Andrews in Scotland say the way to get better skin coloring (that people consider healthy and more attractive) is to simply increase the amount of fruits and veggies that you eat.

Over a six-week period, the researchers followed the fruit and vegetable consumption of 35 people and found that those who added more produce to their diet saw improvements not only in the color of their skin (read: rosier, healthier complexions), but were also perceived as more attractive in a supplemental study. Those who consumed fewer fruits and veggies actually grew paler, according to the report published in the journal PLos ONE.

The keys seems to be red- and yellow-pigmented carotenoids, like beta-carotene and lycopene, which are found in fruits and veggies since they are believed to be the key factors that help boost the look of the skin. While all whole fruits and veggies (skin included) will help improve the complexion, those with high carotenoids pigment include:

Beta-carotene: Yams, spinach, peaches, pumpkin and apricots.

Lycopene: Apricots, watermelons, tomatoes and pink grapefruit.

The US Department of Agriculture’s “My Plate” dietary guidelines suggest that each meal should include half a plate of fruits and vegetables. However, only about 30 percent of Americans consume the recommended amounts of fruits and veggies every day.

How does your consumption of fruits and veggies stack up? Share your diet and skin-boosting strategies in the comments below.
